About us

Sturgis Strings is the school string ensemble which combines students from both Sturgis East and Sturgis West.

Who should join? Students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in this extracurricular group. It is recommended that the student interested in joining this group either has previous string ensemble experience, can read sheet music, a well-developed ear, or is very dedicated to music making!

What does the group play? A mix of pop, traditional Western Art Music, film music, and seasonal selections are common in this group. The music is occasionally accompanied in some manner.

When does the group meet? Rehearsals will take place at the East campus on Thursdays from 7:20 AM to 8:05 AM starting Thursday, September 9th. Additionally, there will be lunch sectionals from 11:30-12:30 at the East and West campuses alternating campus each week.

West students/guardians will need to complete and return the driving waiver prior to rehearsal in order to attend. Students will be driven to the West campus after the morning Thursday rehearsals at East.
